With the new site design, I decided to create some new content.
The law of landlord and tenant, from a tenant’s point of view is explained in some detail in the free E-Course. However a short guide to tenants rights would be, I decided, a good idea.
The list of rights is based on a book I wrote in 2007 called Renting: the Essential Guide to Tenants’ Rights which was published by Lawpack. The book is quite old now and much of the law is out of date – but many of the laws and principles I wrote about are still valid and correct.
The rights are explained just in outline. For further details, you will need to read the linked blog posts and sign up to the E-course.
I would suggest also buying the book, save that it is now considerably out of date and it may be misleading in some areas (in particular regarding tenancy deposits).
Needless to say, if you need any help and advice there is always the telephone advice service.
